Our Mentorship Program aims to alleviate some of the disadvantages faced by first generation law students. In a 2016 survey of first generation students at Osgoode Hall Law School, an overwhelming majority expressed that they felt disadvantaged by their lack of connections to the legal world when compared to their peers. We aim to alleviate this disadvantage by connecting first generation students with mentors who are established professionals in the legal community.
WHO DO WE MATCH?
Our Mentorship Program aims to match students at the beginning of their 1L year. However, we do make matches throughout the year, for all levels of study, as requested.
Serving as a mentor through the First Generation Network may satisfy part of the Continuing Professional Development requirement through the Law Society of Upper Canada.
