Name: Jasmine Tsang
Title: National Head of Alumni Relations (2018-2019)
Law School: Osgoode Hall Law School, Class of 2020
Background: I grew in Northern Ontario, just outside Sudbury. I am second-generation Chinese on my father’s side and French Canadian on my mother’s side. Unfortunately, I can only speak French at the moment, but I am slowly learning Mandarin.
Memorable Moment in Law School: Some of my favourite moments were during the first year moots. Being able to construct and deliver my oral arguments to the panel of judges was quite the learning experience. For me, it was an adrenaline rush.
Current Plans: As of August, I will be starting my intensive placement at Parkdale Community Legal Services in the Social Assistance, Violence and Health Division.
Future Plans: I plan to work in social justice and criminal law, likely as a criminal defence lawyer.
Fun Facts About Me: Outside law school I am usually catching up with friends, cooking, hiking or practising yoga.
Advice for Incoming Law Students: First of all: congrats on getting into law school! It’s a big deal! My advice is not to overthink next steps. It is easy to get caught up thinking about starting classes, career recruits, articling… the list goes on. While it’s important to be proactive, it’s also important to enjoy where you are currently.
