Name: Simi Solebo
Title: National Head of Student Life (2018-2019)
Law School: Osgoode Hall Law School, Class of 2020
Background: I was born in London, England. I moved to Canada when I was ten. I have always wanted to be a lawyer ever since I was young. My mum calls me a freedom fighter. I guess the idea of tangible justice has always been something that anchors me.
Memorable Moment in Law School: My most memorable moment in first year was going to Old Osgoode Hall on the first day of orientation. I was surrounded by the whole first year class and having a “you made it” moment. It was so surreal and a moment I will remember forever.
Current Plans: I am currently a Research Assistant, working on curricular development in the area of Anti-Black Racism within the legal system and Indigenous legal issues.
Future Plans: This is something I am still trying to figure out, actually. I will get back to you on that one.
Fun Facts About Me: My full name is 57 letters long.
Advice for Incoming Law Students: This year will be a lot of hard work and you will have to sacrifice a lot. But don’t forget who you are, stay connected to your family, friends and other communities you have made outside of law school.
